Four scholars bag Dr Manmohan Singh Scholarship Programme 2011


St. John's College, University of Cambridge announced the recipients of the prestigious Dr. Manmohan Singh Scholars for 2011. Shashi Ratnaker Singh, a research fellow at TERI, Avishek Ranjan, a master's degree holder from IIT Chennai, Arjun Datta, a fellow MTech from IIT Roorkee and Sohini Vanjari, who holds a master's degree in zoology from Pune University, have been chosen for the prestigious scholarship.
The scholarship programme has been funded by BP, Rolls-Royce, Hardeep Rai (a UK alumnus) and two anonymous sponsors.
The Honorable Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh met with the awardees last week at his 7 Race Course residence and wished the scholars good luck as they leave for his alumnus in Cambridge.
The scholarship programme, which was instituted in 2008, enables academically-outstanding Indian students to pursue doctoral degrees in science and technology, economics and social science in St John's College.

As a part of the programme, academic tuition fees, international airfare and monthly stipend for living expenses are awarded to all recipients.
