Dr Sanjay Palsule, Associate Professor of Polymer Engineering in Indian Institute of Technology IIT-Roorkee, has been selected to be the Editor-in-Chiefof the Encyclopedia of Polymers and Composites. The encyclopedia will be of 15 Volumes, each of 800 pages and will cover history, state-of-the-art, challenges and future potential of polymeric and composite materials.Encyclopedia for polymers is published every 10 years, in the middle of the decade, and this encyclopedia will appear in 2015. The encyclopedia, accepted by the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC) as the main source of knowledge and information, and being published by Springer from Germany (in English language) will have 20 Editors, selected from across the globe on the basis of their knowledge, experience and specialization, and includes Prof Thein Kyu, Prof Sadhan Jana and Prof Patrick Mather of USA; Prof Moshe Narkis of Israel; Prof (Ms) Brownyn Fox of Australia, Prof Akihiro Abe of Japan and several other eminent scientists and engineers.
Dr Sanjay Palsule got selected as Editor-in-Chief of the Encyclopedia on the basis of successfully developing anoxic molecular composites by overcoming all thermodynamic odds predicted by Prof P J Flory for which Prof Flory was awarded the Noble Prize.
Prof. Palsule has received B E in Chemical Engineering from NIT Raipur and PhD from Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh. He is author of standard reference books (published by Springer Germany) on polymer blends and is well known for his work on amorphous polymers and aerospace polymers for which the European Space Agency has obtained 6 patents with Dr Palsule as the Inventor across the world.
He has been awarded ESA Patent Award (1993, 1999), EUROAVIA Satellite Design Award (1991) and Young Scientists Award (1987).
